Value Acceleration Process
A structured approach to help business owners strategically plan and execute their exit while maximizing business value. This process follows a gated approach, meaning that at each phase, specific objectives must be met before progressing to the next step.

Gate 1: Discovery & Assessment
Objective: Understand the business owner’s goals, readiness, and business valuation.
Key Activities:
- Conduct a Value Acceleration Assessment (examining business,
personal, and financial readiness). - Identify key value drivers and areas for improvement.
- Define exit objectives (timeline, financial needs, and transition
preferences).
Gate 2: Prepare
Objective: Implement strategies to increase business value and protect
wealth.
Key Activities:
- Optimize operations, leadership, and processes to enhance
business attractiveness. - Reduce risks that could diminish value (legal, financial,
operational). - Align business and personal financial planning with exit strategy.
- Develop contingency plans (insurance, key employee retention,
legal protections).
Gate 3: Decide
Objective For Business Owner: Consider the planning options and decide the best direction given the requisite planning options provided.
Key Activities For Business Owner:
- Select the best exit option (sale, internal transition, ESOP, etc.).
- Confirm the time frame for the planned transition.
- Engage outside third-party expertise, relevant to planned transition.
- Negotiate terms and finalize agreements through outside legal counsel.
- Plan for business continuity and leadership change succession.
